You've probably found your way here because you're having problems using Google's shopping cart on one of our sites. Sorry about that.

What we found in our testing of the cart:

Internet Explorer: versions 6 and 8 were tested and work good. (Version 7 wasn't tested specifically, but 8 in compatibility mode works so it's believed good.)
Firefox (tested on version 3): Cart works reliably.
Chrome: The cart works reliably.1
Safari: The cart works reliably.2
Opera: Doesn't work at all. The cart loads, initializes, and then the buttons don't work to put things into the cart. Testing was done with Opera 9.62; Opera 10.01 on Snow Leopard proved to be a disaster (garbage text, striped images) so I didn't think it was even up to testing.

Google is continuing to improve the cart, and we expect cross-browser function to improve with time. In the mean time, you may want to use a different browser.

Footnotes:

1. Developer's note: Chrome working off a local disk instead of a web server (a "file://" URL) loses cart contents when switching between pages or reloading. After putting items in the cart, you must go directly to checkout to buy the items. This problem disappears once the site is moved to a web server.
2. Developer's note: Safari working off a local disk instead of a web server (a "file://" URL) works until you put an item into it. If you then proceed directly to the checkout, you're okay. If you shop around the site some more before checking out, the cart stops working until you restart Safari. Specifically, "Add to cart" buttons no longer work and you can't view the cart contents. You also can't return to shopping after proceeding to checkout. These problems disappear once the site is moved to a web server.
