Web Design - Portfolio

Herein are provided links to prior work by Devious Fish.
  • George Druziako Heating & Cooling web site George Druziako Heating & Cooling
    HTML with CSS (2010)

George's web site features a look inspired by his industry, heating & cooling, that uses a gas flame background for the navigation menu. Pages feature gutters that contain sample product information, with content in the main column.

  • Flex Gym & Aerobics Center web site Flex Gym & Aerobics Center
    HTML with CSS (2008-2010)

The Flex web site features a common left-side vertical navigation menu, providing a familiar look and easy navigation to visitors. The navigation menu includes important information such as location, hours, and phone numbers ensuring customers can find these details quickly.

The calendar and schedule are generated using a Perl script that transforms the data, ensuring all instances on the web site are kept up-to-date.

  • Bertrand Russell Society web site Bertrand Russell Society
    HTML with CSS (2008)
The 2008 BRS annual meeting was held in Rochester, and they wanted a web site to disseminate information to their members and the world at large. Included here is the site according to my original vision— for organizational reasons, on the actual site the program and detailed schedules were created and maintained by the parties managing the presentation schedule.
  • Bishop Butler web site Bishop Butler
    HTML with CSS (2008)

St. John Fisher College professor David White is one of the world's leading scholars on Bishop Joseph Butler, Anglican theologian (1692-1752). When he wanted to revamp his Butler research web site, he chose Devious Fish. The goal of the project was to provide improved navigation and a modern look. The project included addition of a navigation menu, correction of HTML defects, and improvements to mark-up. Defunct links to historical documents were corrected by locating alternate copies on the Internet, and links were added to several additional texts available from Google Books.

The left-side navigation menu was selected for compatibility with browsers of the time. If I was doing it now, given Internet Explorer 6 use is diminishing, I'd probably choose a horizontal navigation menu with pull-down menus.

  • Rochester Kink Society web site Rochester Kink Society
eCommerce, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (2007-2010) Contains adult subject matter.

My initial redesign took place in late 2007, going live in January after review and approval by the group's membership. The site has continued to undergo change and expansion as the group evolves; in 2009, PayPal integration for member dues was added, supporting either single payments or subscriptions. The site is static but updated nightly during an automatic rebuild that imports calendar updates via RFC 2445 ("iCalendar") support, allowing the calendar to be maintained with most calendar programs.

  • Sir Clean web site Sir Clean
eCommerce, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (2009) Contains adult subject matter.

SirClean is a shower-attached portable bidet. The site uses a custom landing page that triages visitors to intended use, with individual pages focusing on specifics. I turned the client's black-and-white vision into a brushed-metal look that matches his product. The site originally used Google Checkout, but has since been switched to PayPal for processing.

In addition to the product pages, the site includes support, FAQ, and installation pages along with an installation video. Most photography and video work was also performed by Devious Fish.
